Can You Refill Vape Pods?

Old-school vapers would remember when they had to constantly refill their vape tanks with e-juice. Enter vape pods, a compact device that makes the vaping experience more convenient. What's so good about these pods is they allow you to skip a lot of the tedious but necessary maintenance, such as changing your coil and refilling the liquid. 

However, there can be a little confusion over whether or not you can refill vape pods with e-juice. The short answer is that some pods can and others can't, depending on the type of vape device you have.

Refillable Vape Pods

Refillable vape pods will have a rubber seal that can be lifted to reveal a hole. This is where you’ll put the spout of your e-juice bottle. 

How do you know when to refill the pod? When it’s empty. However, you can top it up midway, only if you plan to use the same e-juice. 

Even so, trying to vape all the e-juice before refilling is risky. Doing that could lead to a dry hit, which happens when the pod is out of e-juice, and you start heating the wicking material. This leads to a terrible taste and a bad experience, so avoid it at all costs. 

A small reminder for those who have refillable pods: you will need to replace the coil. Refillable vape pods mostly come with disposable coils. The wicking material always gets worn out with use and loses its ability to hold and carry the e-juice properly. 

You can buy a new coil or build your own with wires and wick. Although, this can be challenging if you have one of the smaller vape pods. 

Putting in a new coil is usually as simple as popping the old one out and the new one in. Take the opportunity to clean the pod by rinsing it under running water and allowing it to dry. If you’ll be using a different e-juice, cleaning the pod between refills keeps the two juices from mixing and creating a weird Frankenstein-like flavor.  

Disposable Vape Pods

Disposable vape pods are more convenient to use.

No, you shouldn’t refill disposable vape pods. Instead, when they’re empty, you need to throw them away and slide a new pod into your unit. 

This is much more convenient than getting your hands sticky with e-juice as you refill the pod. You also won’t need to carry a bottle of e-juice around. All you need is an extra pod, which will take up much less space. 

What you need to do is simply pull out the used pod from the device. Open the package of the new pod and attach it to your device. It’s easy and takes only a few seconds.
